My first scrapbook

Hi All,

I am back with a new post again. This one is a scrapbook/album, with box, which I have made for my brother. I have used a mix of pattern papers, card stocks, and embellishments with ribbons and tags. Please let me know whether I can use any kind of improvisation.

Picture - heavy post..

Below are the tiny notelets that I attached to a black card stock and added to the album at the last. A few lines for him from me :)

It's raining Washi

Haa, this is my third washi attempt. I guess I messed up with some washi, but still, loved the card for the bird stamp that I picked up from Bitsanpieces. The umbrella is stamped on a separate paper, and I stuck washi tapes behind the paper and cut the image. The celebration-hangings are made with washi again.

Entering this for kraftzone's challenge again.

A Washi attempt

My second attempt with Washi Tapes. This time, i wanted to make it for a challenge, so tried some combinations. I know I still need to give more try towards it. I wanted to create some CAS card, but, finally ended up with this combination.

Used flowers to get some meaning to the sentiment and stenciled with memory box stencils. Please leave your valuable comments, which would help to improve. I am entering for kraftzone's April challenge.

My favourite flower stamps

I wanted to try some flower stamps to get a pleasant look in the card. So, my attempt goes here, where I have used The Crafty Meow's stamp.

Used Bic-Mark it pens to colour the flowers, memory box stencils with distress inks. The butterfly is from Jef's punch and I receied it as a gift from Nikkita.

This is my officially first layered card.

The Sun Shine

I wanted to use the memory box stencils in some way that it could be really meaningful in a card. So, here are my attempts towards it.

I used the Unity stamp in the first card to promote a feeling of uniqueness and inspirational words in the first card.

Thought of making the second card a little sentimental, so used the stamps from Kavitha's store. Again, used distress inks for rays.

An attempt towards mixed media

This is a new try from my side for a mixed media project. I hope it looks alike. I am not really sure whether this could be categorized into a mixed media layout. If yes, I would like to hear some comments.

This is the complete layout. I got the canvas eons ago from Coimbatore and used gesso for brick pattern that could be seen in the right hand side bottom. I used stencils for the brick pattern. The top most left hand side patten is made by using memory box sun shine stencils. I misted it using Priya's mini misters again. Of course, the entire project is made by using mini misters. The yellow part is to place a photograph. I wanted to get a Spring theme, so I used as many flowers as I can.

This is a peacock chip board that I picked up from Itsy Bitsy. For colours used Priya Sivaraj's mini misters, and since I did not have distress inks then, I used my acrylic colours, and sprayed them over the peacock to get a mixed look of blue and green.

A birdie to hold the photograph that I picked from Itsy Bitsy.

The stamped image is distressed with tumbled glass distress ink. The stamp is from Kaisercraft that has the dictionary meaning of "soulmate" which I picked up from kraftzone.

Epitome of beauty

Oh, I guess I need to mention about her, my friend - the epitome of beauty. A person, who is very down to earth, a talented-woman, an ardent reader, a poet, what else? There is an artistic side of her as well. I had a couple of chances to sketch her and I must say, it turned out to be good, at least to my satisfaction. So, here goes few lines for her,

There is a moon in the sky, which follows me, but, why
It's a dream that I see through my eyes when I fly
I go on and on and on, and see the blooming flowers
They told me a story as how they won wars
"We are not the ones who crave to make colours
There is a beauty who make the world wonder
Cuteness is nothing, but her essence
And beasts are we, without her presene
Feeling the breath of fresh air
Knowing that it is from her moving hair
Rhythm played on us with a smile she gave
Blessed are we, to be in her cave.
We heard a song from above,
that made us to melt without any doubt,
And swear it is that of an Angel's, saying a name aloud
It's every moment that we crave to hear that name
There's no doubt that being with her got the fame
A glimpse that made us nowhere
And it's just that we see our sweet "Jyo" everywhere.

The beautiful Magnolia

For anyone who makes handmade cards, Magnolia stamps are one among the milestone that makes happy when touched. No doubt, I am brought into the same path. So, here goes my Magnolia stamped image with a few decorative flowers and a doily. I loved colouring the stamp and I was happy at the result, though, at least, for my first try. Though this is not great, I did love colouring it, after all, the one that makes me happy.

The right path

This is another card that I loved making, with crafty Individual's stamp. The flowers are from Heartfelt creations stamp and die-cut. The sentiment is from MFT. Anyhow I want to keep that card very simple without adding layers.

Please leave some comments which would help me to improve.

The so called Black

Now, coming to the so called black, which was/is and will never be a choice of mine, atleast to the darkest shade that it provides. I was said by someone that black will never be a choice in a card which would not be a good sign to gift to a near one, especially to a Valentine. It does not mean that we cannot do anything with black, but if black, used in a proper proportion would really be good in a card. THis would definitely be a choice to those who love black and use every pinch of it in their lifestyle. So, here goes my two cards, one, with a proper proportion of black and one with an improper proportion og black in it.

The first card shown below has an improper proportion of black. Black goes well with off-white and pink, but it gives a vibrant combination (which is not so good at times), with pure white. I initially thought of using pink with white, but i just wanted to show how black and white alone would not make a great combination if used in a very simple way. On the other way round, black designs on a white card would really do awesome combination. I prefer distressing the edges of the card, which is recently my choice. I have not done that in this card. Also, butterflies in mixed colours, would have added more joy to the card. and the hearts enclosed in pink or red would have provided more meaningful message which would have been a visual treat otherwise.

The second card is below, where I have used Kaisercraft damask design to stamp repeatedly creating a background. I allowed it to dry for about thirty minutes, and then distressed a little using spun sugar distress ink pad.
The lamppost is from Marianne designs, and the border die is from Memory box.

Everyone needs a hug

I recently went through some of the cards and found a huge difference between Indian made and Western cards. We, Indians, use cards when there is a function or there is something that you need to convey to your Valentine or loved ones, but that too - do we give any cards frequently? I think, NO. I have never seen someone giving cards to their dear ones just because the dear one is down and we asking that person to cherish and get inspired. But I feel, personally(well, it is just my personal view), to give cards or just to cheer-up someone because that person has to be lifted up in life. There is no need to give such decorated card, but even a simple letter/one line would suffice to let the person know that someone is out there for them. So, this is a card made in such thought. We feel good by a hug, don't we?

We do not need thousands and thousands of words as advice/suggestions to cheer-up, but just a simple hug, which would speak them all..

My girl she is

This is one more card, which I loved making for the cute look the girl carried.

The flowers are handmade by me and this is my first try for handmade flowers with heartfelt creations die after watching a couple of youtube videos. I used momento ink for colouring the brick and die-versions die for getting the effect of the brick and coloured it used Iced Spruce. Used the whimsy ticket stamps and thought it is too much of a blue now.. :/

It's a Baby Boy :)

Now, it is time to try out something new. So I thought of giving a try for a baby boy card. So, I coloured it blue everywhere including the stork, and I so loved this stamp, which I got it from Mansi/DCAM.

Thank You Cards

Here comes another try for thank you cards. The two thank you cards are made with different themes, the first one being a digital image, taken printout and coloured using Cretacolor Colour pencils. The thank you sentiment is itself a die from Memory box, got from Meetu Aggarwal's Innovations and Creations. Please check her fb page here - https://www.facebook.com/innovationsandcreations.

The second card is something special, where I have used Heartfelt Creations' stamped flower image and a die with some pearls for it in the center. The doily is half cut, which I got from Nikkitan Jain. I did love the flowers and the exact match die cut.

In both, the ink used is of Distress Ink/Wild Honey.

I would love to hear your vauable comments.

My first try with Distress Ink Stmaping

Here is another stamp, that I wanted since a long time and by chance I saw that in Priya's store. Do you think I would have delayed anytime :). I asked her for the stamp and she said a big "Yes". :)

I stamped the guy and the girl, and for the walking through the grass/leaves effect for a greener future, I just used IOStampes and Tim Holtz' Distress Inks. It would be no exaggeration to say that Distress Inks are a treat for any crafter. Wow! I could not stop myself colouring the ones through distress inks the moment I received them from Maninder Kaur. Priya - these stamps are lovely.

Oh, did I forget to mention that the girl-boy stamp is from Crafty Individuals?

Brother Card

I made this card, with a special intention that it should not look like anything and it should be made special with my brother in my mind. I made this card for my brother who is going to celebrate his birthday on April 24th. Of course, I have not told him, but I definitely wanted to gift him with a gift and this card for his birthday on April 24th, though this would not even come up to .00000000000000000000000001% of the love he shows towards me.. Thanks brother!, thanks so much for being my friend, for lifting up my spirits when it was down and thanks for lending your shoulder whenever I did not know that I needed it.

Out of all the cards I made, this is something that I really loved making. I made an Origami shirt in handmade papers from Itsy Bitsy, a tie stamped and cut from Whimsy stamps, and s simple stamped image from Justrite. I have a lot to write inside, so I kept the card simple. There is a tag that is hidden inside the shirt which says "Happy Birthday Wishes". I especially wanted this stamped out image in this due to a cute incident happened between us, ofcourse in everyone's childhood, when we used to say "My happy birthday is on xxx date, my happy birthday is on yyy date". lol. Anyhow this is just some love towards him..

Brother,, it is simply great to have you always, and I swear, I promise, though we are separated by miles,,, it is only when I think about the crappy talks that we have, I smile..

Anniversary Card

Ok, A way new post again -

This is an anniversary card, where I wanted to try out all the new dies that I own :)

So, here goes all the roses from Marianne Design, the justrite stamp's for Mr. and Mrs., the inkadinkado wedding stamp, and Cheery Lynn's French Lattice, along with Spellbinder's die.

Please do leave some comments, positive would make me happy and negative would make me grow :)

Thanks all for spending some of your time in reading this.

Valentine Day Cards

I think it is a long time that I have not posted anything. I was a li'l busy in some personal work and I have not really posted anything in my blog, but I still managed time to make some cards. So, the history to these Valentine day cards dates back to my friend's request/rather suggestion to make a few to gift for his fiancee. I tried a  couple of cards, which I have posted below. But he entirely came up with a new idea and his own sentiments and after long long discussions, we finalized a simple sentiment, yet a powerful one. In fact, it was this time, that I found how simple words can become so meaningful in a card.  The first card goes here.

And the second one here -

I tried the second one for a vintage look, though it did not come so very well. We planned for the wordings "You are my perfect rose". This had a very old and a dirty-with-sand look, so we figured it might not be a card to gift for the first time for a valentine. Lol. And the final one comes below.

I stamped the image with the justrite stamp, coloured it with usual colours, and the stamped image added beauty to my words, whereas you can see only one rose with bright+neat colouring, and the other rose is half cut and the left one has a dull colouring. So the perfect rose in this image is only one :).
And I added a tag that I received as a gift from Huseena, stamped an image from Itsy Bitsy's birthday stamp(the gift box image on the tag), coloured it, stamped the justrite's Happy Valentine's day image on the tag and added the tag to the card.

You can see the wordings "You are my perfect rose" behind the tag. This will be seen when the tag is lifted. I just wanted the letters to be in a improper shape, to convey an inner meaning that - lovers may not be perfect to everyone, but they are perfect they are the way to their Valentine.

I have not captured an inside view of the card because I felt it should be little private to the person. Apart from other contents, it contains the word "Me" inside a heart shaped symbol, and "You" inside a rose with the message You+Me=Happy.

And I am very glad that my friend liked this card.

Will be back with an update soon. :)

Bye all and thanks for reading the above post.
